I have changed the format to fit it onto 1 page. John Boyle Funeral Set Funeral arrangements have been made for John A. (Jack) Boyle, 65, a retired director of mine inspection for the Frick Coal Div. of U. S. Steel Corp., who died suddenly Saturday morning at his residence, 121 Maryal Drive, Whitehall. He was a former resident of Uniontown. Friends will be received in the Gleason Funeral Home, 114 E. Fayette St., today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. until Tuesday at 9 a.m. when a Requiem High Mass will be held in St. John's R. C. Church with Rev. James; O'D Hanlon as celebrant. Burial will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. At Everson Shop Born near Scottdale, he was educated in the local schools and graduated from West Virginia University. He joined U. S. Steel in 1916 as an assistant machinist at the Everson Shop. After a series of promotions, he was named chief mine inspector for the Frick District with offices in Uniontown in 1944 and served as director of mine inspection until his retirement in 1962. Active in mining and civic affairs, Mr. Boyle was past. president of both the Pittsburgh Coal Mining Institute and the Mine Rescue Veterans Assn. He also served. as vice president of this Mine Inspectors Institute of America as well as a member of the National Safety Council and Coal Mine Safety Exchange Group. Other Activities Mr. Boyle served the Boy Scouts of America as health and safety director of the Old Trails District. In 1945 and again in 1949,, he was named to the state mine inspectors examining board. He was a member of the Frick Veterans Assn.; Scottdale Elks; Uniontown Country Club, Tower Vue Country Club, Baldwin; and St. Elizabeth's R. C. Church, Pleasant Hills. A veteran of World War I, he was past commander of the New Salem, American Legion, and also served as president of the New Salem Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Ache Boyle; two sons, John W. and Francis R., both of Uniontown; 14 grandchildren, three brothers, Michael and George, both of California, and Arthur, Scottdale.
