RACHEL FINLEY CORE Mrs. Rachel Finley Core died at her home, 64 South Mt. Vernon avenue, Thursday, December 16, 1930, at 5:30 a. m. Mrs. Core had been ill several weeks. She was a daughter of the late Abram and Adeline McLain Moore and descended from the early pioneer settlers of the county. Captain John Moore and his band of pioneers along with the Rev. James Finley settled along Dunlap's Creek here in 1765. Mrs. Core was the last of a family of three. A brother, Aaron, died July 2, 1886, and another brother, John, on May 11, 1928. She was a member of the Ladies of the G.A.R. Surviving are two nephews, Charles A. and Harry G. Moore of New Salem and a neice, Mrs. George Porter of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Core was a member of the First Presbyterian church and was one of the community's most active charitable workers. Funeral services will be held at her late home Saturday afternoon at two o'oclock, the Rev. W. Blake Hindman officiating. CORE FUNERAL Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Finley Core, aged 82 years, who died at her home at 64 South Mount Vernon avenue, Thursday morning were held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. W Blake Hindman offficiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. A quartet comprised of Mrs. William Hogsett, Mrs. Mary Graham Mead, Mrs. J. F. Mathews and Mrs. R. H. Jeffrey sang "Peace, Sweet Peace" and "Goodnight." The pallbearers were Lewis Dulaney, Frank Sharpnack, B. F. King, Alex Langley, Thomas Woods and T. R. Bell.
