Crossland found in Connellsville Courier dated December 26, 1916. Joseph T. Crossland, 67 years old, constable of the Fourth Ward for years, died Sunday morning at his home in East Main street, Mr. Crossland had been in poor health for sometime and a year ago Sunday he returned from the Cottage State Hospital where he underwent an operation in hopes of regaining his health. He had been confined to his home for about three weeks previous to his death. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock from the family residence with Rev. Wilbur Nelson, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Many relatives and friends of the deceased attended. Interment in Hill grove cemetery. Mr. Crossland was born in Bullskin township, spending his early days in the township. He was a son of the Richard and Eliza Crossland.Joseph T. Crossland was married over 40 years ago to Miss Catherine Means, who with the following children survive; Mrs. James B. Woods, Mrs. S.A. Moser of Connellsville;Mrs. D.C. Lampher of West Newton and Virginia Crossland at home. The following brothers and sisters, Eli Crossland of Latrobe; Painter Crossland and Montgomery Crossland of Bullskin township; George Crossland of Mount Pleasant; James Crossland, Uniontown; Charles Crossland, Mount Bradock; Christopher Crossland, Connellsville; Mrs. William Means of Vanderbilt; Mrs. Anna Kelley of Iron Bridge; Mrs. Norman Washabaugh of near Mount Pleasant and seven grandchildren also survive. In politics Mr. Crossland was a Democrat. At one time he served as deputy sheriff when S.E. Frock of Uniontown was sheriff. For many years he served continuously as constable in the Fourth Ward and was widely and favorably known throughout Fayette county.
