The Weekly News Standard -- September 14, 1901
WILLIAM EMME died at his home on September 13, 1901, from asthma and 
complication of diseases, aged 70 years 1 month 2 days.  He celebrated his  
70th anniversary on August 11th.  His father was ANDREW EMME of Springhill.    
A singular incident that William died on the same night as McKinley from an 
assassins bullet; his father died the same night as Garfield from a bullet, 
September 19, 1881.  Mr. Emme was married to LAVINA DERRY, daughter of     
BAZIL DERRY, and is survivied by 11 children, three of them are dead.  He was 
an industrious man working in Pittsburgh, intelligent staunch Republican.  
Deceased was the half-brother of Justice D. H. EMME.
