Death In France Of Priv. John J. Fette East Connellsville Soldier in Ordnance Department Falls a Victim of Pneumonia. Private John J. Fette, about 29 years old, died of pneumonia, October 2 in France, according to official word from the War Department received on Saturday by the young man's father, Henry Fette of East Connellsville. Private Fette entered the service on May 10 last, and received his military training at the University of Maine and Camp Hancock, Augusta, Ga. He sailed for France, September 1, 1918, and since arriving overseas his family had received only one letter from him. At the time of his enlistment in the Third Company, Sixth Provisional Battalion, Ordnance Department, Mr. Fette was employed in Akron, O. Before locating in Akron he was a machinist at the Connellsville shops of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad and was widely known here. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception church and of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his father he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Anna, Kathryn, Fred and Christ Fette, at home; Henry, Washington, Pa.; Frank, Monessen, and Andrew, Connellsville.
