HARBAUGH His obituary appeared in the Connellsville, PA Courier June 12, 1916 MOUNTAIN POET DIES Allen E. Harbaugh Succumbs at his Springfield Township Home. Allen E. Harbaugh, 66 years old, one of the best known residents of Springfield township, died yesterday morning at his home near Mill Run. Funeral tomorrow afternoon from the Baptist Church at Indian Creek with interment in the Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Harbaugh was a familiar character throughout the township and was well known in Connellsville, having paid frequent visits to the city. He was populary known as the"Mountain Poet". For a number of years he edited the Mill Run Guest and at one time was a writer for The Courier. Mr. Harbaugh spent much of his time writing poetry. He was a sign painter and also learned the trade of a printer. He was a cobbler for many years. Deceased spent all his life at Mill Run and vicinity. His Widow and the following children survive; John, Chauncey, William and Anna, all at home.
