The Daily News Standard - July 1, 1909
GEORGE W. HARTMAN was born July 12, 1831, and after a brief sickness died at 
his home near Glendale, PA, June 24, 1909.  He was united in marriage to Miss 
PHEBA BERRY (*Derry), December 24, 1852.  To this union were born eight 
children, seven daughters, and one son.  His companion in life preceded him to 
the eternal six years.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss the following children:  Mrs. Mary Woods 
of McKeesport, Mrs. Nancy Miller of Fairchance, PA., Mrs. Sarah Thompson of 
Glendale, PA., Mrs. Lida Nedley of Leckpone, PA., William Hartman of Glendale, 
besides 55 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hartman was a kind and well respected citizen and will be much missed by 
his many friends in the community.  The funeral services were held at his late 
home Sabbath June 27, at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. R. N. Large, pastor of 
the Free Methodist church at Fairchance, assisted by the Rev. R. N. Shaner, 
pastor at Glendale.
