Connellsville, PA Weekly Courier Thursday, November 14, 1912 BULLSKIN VETERAN DEAD Jacob Means Aged 65 Years Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke Jacob Means aged 65 years and 27 days, a Civil War veteran, and a resident of Bullskin Twp. the greater part of his life, died Monday afternoon at 5:20 o'clock at the home of son Charles Means, near Johnson School, Bullskin Twp. Mr. Means was born at Jones Mills. He was twice married. His first wife, who was Miss Celesta Whipkey, died about 30 years ago. To the union five children were born, three of whom survive, Mrs. Albert Shank, Connellsville; Mrs. Emmett Halfhill, Pennsville; and Mrs Harry Collins, Vandergraft. His second wife was Miss Minnie Coughenour,. Of this union, one son Charles Means Survives. The second Mrs. Means died about 16 years ago. The following brothers and sisters survive; the Rev. J.H Means who resides with his daughter, Mrs. John K. Dunhara, of Connellsville, and with West Newton relatives; Thomas Means of Fairview Farm, Dunbar Township; William K. Means, Vanderbilt; Mrs. Elizabeth Reese, Johns Mills, and Mrs. Hiram Richter, Snydertown. NOTE This obituary states that Jacob's second wife was Minnie Coughenour, but census records of Bullskin Twp. 1880 find Jacob living with wife Annie with Charles a 4 month infant. Also Jacob is buried in Mt. Olive Cem. with wife Celesta on one side and wife Annie on the other. Annie died March 05, 1883 ( no obituary has been found)
