O'Neal Sr., 65, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 2, 1998 at Lorain Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West after a sudden illness. He was born on Jan. 10, 1933 in Holliday's Cove, West Virginia. He has been a Vermilion, Ohio resident since 1970, moving from LaGrange. He was employed as a tool crib attendant for General Motors, retiring after 23 years of service. He was a member of Vermilion Fish and Game Club since 1985, where he also was a caretaker foe six years. He was a member of UAW No. 780. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in his garage, and playing horse shoes. He enjoyed nature and watching the birds. Liked reading Westerns and getting together with his family. He is survived be his wife of 38 years, Margaret Joyce (McGinnis); five daughters, Marjorie March of Amherst, Ohio, Lynda Barns of Port Huron, Mich., Peggy Louise O'Neal of Vermilion,Ohio, Nancy Lee Lloyd of Russellville, Ala., and Elizabeth Gertrude Krause of Huron, Ohio; three sons, John W. O'Neal Jr., of Amherst, Ohio, Clayton Charles Phillips of Oberlin, Ohio, and Timothy Shawn O'Neal of Vermilion, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; three great-children; two sisters, Lois Boyce, of Elyria, Ohio, and Bessie Gavin of Toledo, Ohio and two brothers, Harry Robert O'Neal of Hebron, Ind. and Fred Albert O'Neal of Sheffield Lake, Ohio. He was preceeded in death be a grandson, Eric John O'Neal on July 15, 1998; a sister, Dorothy Crouse; and his parents, Harry Robert and Hattie Montazella (Williamson) O'Neal. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Riddle funeral Home 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. J.D. McIntosh, pastor of the Amherst Church of Christ, officiating. Burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
