It Claimed Another Victim from the Ranks of the Tenth Regiment. CONNELLSVILLE, Pa., October 26. - A strange adverse fate seems to be hanging over the members of the Tenth regiment. Last night the fifth of the returned soldiers met death violently. Charles P. Kerr, a member of company D, of this place, accidentally shot himself through the heart and died instantly. He had been calling at the home of J. M. Cavender, and when about to leave began to fool with a revolver. It contained two bullets and three empty chambers. Kerr evidently intended to snap on the three empty chambers, but made a mistake, and as the revolver was pointed at his breast, he shot himself. The bullet entered his right breast and glanced through the heart. Neighbors were soon notified, and the father of the boy. H. M. Kerr, helped to carry the body of his son from Cavender's to his own home, a block away. Kerr was 21 years old and single. His father is one of the best known citizens in Connellsville. He is a member of the Union Veteran Legion, an elder in the Presbyterian church and manager of the interests of Calhoun & Co., the well known contracting firm.
