It was cut out and put into a photo album by its original owner, who gave them to me in 1997. It is a copy of the original with no corrections to its spelling or punctuation. I have changed the format to fit it onto 1 page. Martin Death Listed Mrs. Sherwood Christy Martin, the former Evelyn Thompson, died at 7:15 last evening at her Friendship Hill home. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Andrew A. and Lida Grim Thompson and granddaughter of the late J. V. Thompson, Uniontown banker and coal baron. A nationally known horsewoman, she was master of the Chestnut Ridge Hunt. She appeared in some of the most outstanding horse shows in the East. The Martin family owns historic Friendship Hill, the colonial home of Albert Gallatin, Secretary of the Treasury in the early days of the nation. Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband; one son, Sherwood C. Martin III of Oakdale; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Fredricka) Whiteside of Pittsburgh and Flora Belle, at home; two sisters, Mrs. James H. (Mary) Austin of Brinklow, Md., and Mrs. Henry G. (Fredricka) Thorndike of Wiconico Church, Md.; and two brothers, Josiah V. Thompson II of Havre de Grace, Md., and G. Markle Thompson of Uniontown. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Maykuth Funeral Home of Masontown. The family suggests contributions to the Heart Fund in lieu of flowers.
