I have changed the format to fit it onto 1 page. Essie M. McCombs Succumbs Monday Prominent Member Of First Presbyterian Church Mrs. Essie M. McCombs, aged 59, wife of Clark C. McCombs, died at 9:07 o'clock Monday night, September 30, 1940 at the family residence, 320 West Main street, after a several months' illness of a complication of diseases. She was born November 5, 1880 a daughter of the late W. C. John and Amy E. John, members of pioneer local families. Mrs. McCombs was a member of the Spence Bible Class of the First Presbyterian church. News of her death will be received with profound sorrow by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons: Murrel C. McCombs, Arthur E. McCombs, and First Lieutenant John C. McCombs, of Clifton Forge, Virginia. She also leaves three grandchildren, and a sister and a brother, da M. Stouffer and Attorney Chad L. John, of Uniontown. Friends are being received at the family residence where services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Dr. William Blake Hindman, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will be in charge. Arrangements are in charge of C. B. Dearth & Sons of New Salem.
