April 11,1897, in the 80th year of his age. Deceased was the oldest of eight sons of Abram and Susan (Baltzell) Mossburg, both of German decent. Abram was born in Maryland and served in the War of 1812. He came west in 1816 and settled near Morgantown where he married and where the subject of this sketch was born February 3, 1818. Abram Mossburg died in 1865 and his wife in 1872, both in Perryopolis. Of their eight sons, six survive: Abram and George of near Smithfield, Issac of Greene County, Henry of Perrypolis, Thomas of near Bellevernon and John W. of Uniontown. There was also one sister, Mary , now deceased. She was the wife of John S. Wilson of Percy. Emanuel Mossburg married Sarah Isberwood, who died in 1889. A large family of children survive.
