Died at Summersville, Nicholas County, Va., greatly lamented and beloved, James
Witter, son of Thomas W. and Mary Nicholson, of New Geneva, Pa. At his death, the
deceased was an honored member of Capt. Gilmore’s Volunteer Cavalry Company, Gen.
Rosencrans’ Division; also a member of the Presbyterian church of George’s Creek. He
was a true friend, an exemplary Christian, a patriotic citizen and a brave soldier.
