It was cut out and put into a photo album by its original owner, who gave them to me in 1997. It is a copy of the original with no corrections to its spelling or punctuation. I have changed the format to fit it onto 1 page. NEWCOMER, BASIL S. Age 80 years, died Thursday, September 5, 1974 at his home on Blaine Ave., McClellandtown. He was the son of the late Basil Newcomer and Ella Rider Newcomer. He was a life-time resident of McClellandtown. His life was devoted to teaching school in German and Redstone Township and was a former school director. He was a member of the McClellandtown United Presbyterian Church and a trustee. A member of German Grange 785, Valley Lodge 459, F&AM, Masontown . Lodge of Perfection, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Fayco Forest. Preceding him in death was his wife, Ruth Given Newcomer in 1967. Surviving are: one son, J. K. Newcomer of Clearwater, Fla.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Wendell (Priscilla) Ratliff; one greatgrandson of Columbus, Ohio; the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Medora Hawkins of Ecorse, Mich.; Mrs. Modest Weisenburg of Tazarana, Calif.; Mrs. Mabel Titus of Severna Park, Md.; Mrs. Willis Hopkins of York, Pa., and Dr. Ward E. Newcomer of Fairbank. Friends will be received in the T. Leonard Sangston Funeral Home, McClellandtown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. till 2 p.m., the hour of service, with Rev. Howard E. Brown officiating. Interment in McClellandtown United Presbyterian Church Hill Cemetery.
