We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ "Daily News Standard", Uniontown, Pa, May 14, 1918 Miss Hannah Norman Miss Hannah Norman, 70 years old and a native of German Township, died Sunday at the home of George Struble from pneumonia. Deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. C. Fretts, at Edenborn. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 'clock, and interment was made in the church yard. Rev. Martin Shively of the Brethren church of Masontown, officiated, and the funeral director was H. A. Johnston of Masontown. =============== "Daily News Standard", Uniontown, Pa, October 18, 1905 Robert Norman McClellandtown, Oct. 18--Robert Norman, who died at his home I mile east of McClellandtown, on Saturday evening, September 30, 1905, was born on the Squire Wilson farm, now owned by John Dunn, April 25, 1818. He has resided in this vicinity until the time of his death as an honest, upright citizen. In the year 1838, Aug 30, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Hostetler and this union was blessed with five children, all of whom are living except James: Sophia, wife of James Gue of Perryopolis, Pa; Sarah Ellen, widow of John Longanecker of Uniontown, Pa., and Samuel and Hannah at home. In 1868, Mr. Norman united with the McClellandtown Presbyterian church, thus devoting 27 years of his life in the service of his Lord and Master. The last two or three years of his life were spent in affliction but the end was calm and peaceful as his life had been. The one ambition of his life was to have everybody his friend. ================= Sophia Norman Gue Perryopolis Perryopolis, Nov. 8-- Mrs Sophia Norman Gue, wife of James Gue died at her home here yesterday. She was a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Norman of New Salem, and was born October 3, 1843. The funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev EE Juday of Somerset. Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Mrs Roy Lynch, Mrs. J K McIntyre and Mrs Alvin Sisley and one son Charles Gue, all of Perryopolis. Mrs. Gue was a member of the Church of Christ and never missed any of the services of her church if she was able to attend (DOD 7 Nov 1916) ================= S. R. NORMAN, OF M'CLELLANDTOWN SUFFERS STROKE (By Herald Correspondent) M'CLELLANDTOWN, Nov. 21--S. D. Norman, aged about 76 years, one of the best known residents of German township, was stricken by paralysis this morning and this evening his condition is so critical that it is feared he cannot live through the night. Mr. Norman had just left the house this morning when he was suddenly stricken. He was discovered a few minutes later by Mrs. Margaret McWilliams who immediately called neighbors who removed Mr. Norman to his home. Dr. Sangston was called. Mr. Norman has occupied several township offices and at the last election was named registry assessor in German township No. 1. He has served as transcribing clerk in the office if the Fayette county commissioners on several occasions. He is widely known. (Samuel Norman b 1839, died 11 Nov 1915) STROKE IS (CLIPPED) TO S. D. NORMAN M'CLELLANDTOWN, Nov 22-- Samuel D. Norman aged 70, died in his home here this morning at 7:55 following a stroke of apoplexy yesterday morning. Mr Norman was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Norman and was born in the old stone homestead in German township May 17, 1839. He was educated in the public schools of German township and spent practically his entire life here. He was engaged as a carpenter for a number of years but worked at various capacities and was active in the political life of the community. At the last election he was elected as registry assessor of German township No. 1. He was engaged as a transcribing clerk in the county commissioners office two years ago. He also served as assessor and registry assessor and a member of the election board in German township at different times. When only twelve years of age Mr. Norman had his right leg torn off in a threshing machine. While greatly handicapped by this accident he was always actively engaged and a highly respected citizen. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah E. Longanecker, of McClellandtown, Mrs. James Gue of Perryopolis, and Miss Hannah Norman of McClellandtown. The funeral party will meet at his late home here Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The funeral services will take place in the Church Hill Presbyterian church of which he was a member for the last 40 years with Rev. C. O. Bemles officiating. Interment will be made in the Church Hill cemetery. Funeral Director H. A. Johnston of Masontown, will have charge of the service. (DOD 11 Nov 1915) ==============================
