Va. David I. Patterson, 47, of Uniontown RD2 was electrocuted around 2 p.m. while working at the home of a Morgantown dentist with whom he was friends. Patterson died at 3:26 p.m. in the West Virginia University hospital. Monongalia County Medical Examiner Dr. Hugh Lindsey said Sunday that electrocution was the cause of death, and the manner was accidental. Lindsey said that the dentist was with Patterson when the accident occurred. "He (Patterson) apparantly got into the power supply he was working on and accidentally electrocuted himself," said Lindsey. County EMS personnel transported Patterson to the hospital. Attempts to resuscitate him en route were unsuccessful. He was born Oct. 7, 1938 at Brownfield, Pa., a son of Margaret Elsey Patterson of Hopwood and the late Dr. William W. Patterson. Patterson was the owner of the D.I. Patterson Company and a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Joyce (Cassinotti) Patterson; three sons, David of New Orleans, La., Scott of Atlanta, Ga., and Christopher, at home; one brother, Luke of Harrisburg, Pa.; two sisters, Linda Davis of Vienna, Va., and Diane Smith of Jonesboro, Ga. The family will receive friends in the Andrew D. Ferguson funeral home, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 16, until 11 a.m., at which time a blessing service will be held with Rev. Fr. John Regoli officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, William Penn Hotel, Suite 218, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219.
