Ryan, 72, of 11 Dawson Ave., Uniontown, a retired deputy sheriff and South Union Twp. constable, died yesterday morning in the Laurel Rest Home. Friends will be received at the Oats Funeral Home today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9, and on Wednesday until 10:15 a.m. Mass will follow at 11 in St. John's R. C. Church with Rev. John J. Walsh as celebrant. Burial will be in Sylvan Heights Memorial Gardens. Parish Rosary, K of C Uniontown Council 1275, and Christian Mothers of St. John's will all recite Rosary at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. South Union Vol. Fire Dept. will conduct Ritualistic Services at 7 tonight. Mr. Ryan was born in Brownsville, a son of the late John and Mary Daugherty Ryan. He was a charter member of the South Union Vol. Fire Co., a member of St. John's R. C. Church, St. John's Ushers, a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1275, UMWA member, and retired coal miner. Surviving are his wife, Viola C. Freed Ryan; four daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Margaret) Vernon, Mrs. George (Betty) McClean, and Mrs. William (Cathy) Karwatske, all of Uniontown, and Mrs. Richard (Connie) Rugh of Smithfield; three sons, John T.. Donald P., and Kenneth E., all of Uniontown; 23 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; a brother, Francis, in Uniontown, and two sisters, Mrs. William (Genevieve) Heffren in Ralph and Mrs. Harry (Lide) Brooks, in Chester.
