Ryan, 72, of 11 Dawson Ave., Uniontown, a retired deputy sheriff and South Union Twp. constable, died this morning in the Laurel Rest Home. Friends will be received at the Oak Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9, tomorrow from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9, and on Wednesday until 10:l5 a.m. Mass will follow at 11 in St. John's R. C. Church with Rev. John J. Walsh as celebrant. Burial will be in Sylvan Memorial Gardens. Parish Rosary will he held Tuesday night at in the funeral home. Mr. Ryan was born in Brownsville, a son of the late John and Mary Daugherty Ryan. He was a charter member of the South Union Vol. Fire Co., a member of St. John's U. C. Church, St. John's Ushers, a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1275, UMWA member, and retired coal miner. Surviving are his wife, Viola C. Freed Ryan; four daughters: Mrs. Clyde (Margaret) Vernon, Mrs. George (Betty) McClean, and Mrs. William (Cathy) Karwatske, all of Uniontown, and Mrs. Richard (Connie) Rugh of Smithfield; three sons: John T., Donald P., and Kenneth E., all of Uniontown; 23 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren, a brother, Francis, in Uniontown, and two sisters, Mrs. William (Genevieve) Helfren, in Ralph and Mrs. Harry (Lide) Brooks in Chester.
