Joseph S Spaugy, 63 years old, widely known general store proprietor who had 
lived all his life in northern Fayette County died Monday evening at his home 
in Wooddale. He had been ailing for several years although seriously ill for 
one year. Mr Spaugy is survived by his wife, Clara Murray Spaugy, one brother, 
William of Connellsville R F D and the following children: Mrs H G Baker and 
Mrs Elizabeth Ritenour of Mount Pleasant R D, Mrs Paul S Barnhart, Mrs Arthur 
Meyer and Mrs Harry Bell of Mt Pleasant, Mrs William Beal of Connellsville R F 
D and A H Spaugy, Evelyn Spaugy and Jean Spaugy at home.Mr Spaugy was born in 
Bullskin Township and resided there all his life. He had been operating a 
General Merchandise Store for more than a quarter century.Since his ilness, 
his son had been in charge. He was a member of the Paradise Evangellical 
Church. The funeral will be held thursday at his late home. Interment will be 
in Greenlick Cemetery.
