We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Delilah Carson Strickler STRICKLER Death again visited our village, July 13, 1891, and called to her reward, Mrs Delilah Strickler who was in the 84th year of her age. Her maiden name was Carson sister of our townsman James Carson, Sr and Thomas Carson of Layton, the only two of her family who survives her. She was married at an early age to Jacob Strawn. Eleven children were the fruits of that union of which four sons survive her and one daughter, Mrs Anna Baugh, wife of C C Baugh Esq. of Alliance, O. Her husband Jacob Strawn was killed by a train on the B & O RR, near Layton Station, December 18, 1855. She was afterwards married to Jacob Strickler deceased; no children were born to them. Mrs. Strickler has been a consistent member of the M E church at this place fifty-nine years having united with that body in 1832. The deceased was only sick a few moments before death claimed her, having died of heart disease. Services were held in the M E church, Monday at 2 o'clock PM, the pastor, S W Macurdy officiating. Interment in Mt Washington cemetery. ========== PIERSON C STRICKLER Pierson C Strickler, 67 years old, of Perryopolis, died at 11:35 o'clock Saturday morning in Uniontown Hospital of complications. A son of the late Lyman and Margaret Cope Strickler, he is survived by his wife, Mrs Bertha Ruse Strickler; two sons, Raymond R and Harold D Strickler, one daughter, Mrs Pearl Layhue, all of Perryopolis, and four sisters, Mrs. Frances Mellinger and Mrs. Catherine Luce of Mount Lebanon, Mrs. Cora Price of Sabego Lake, Me., and Mrs Clara C Bradley of Dickson, Tenn. A brother, Demps Strickler, died last November. The funeral service was held this afternoon at the home. Interment was in Mount Washington Cemetery in charge of the undertaking firm of Ira Blair & Sons of Perryopolis. {Hand written note- "March 2nd 1940"} =============
