Van Gilder, 82, of Uniontown, died Thursday in Wilmington General Hospital, Wilmington, Del. He had been a patient at Brandywine Springs Nursing Home since January. He was born Sept. 9, 1889, in Morgantown, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph H. and Belle Van Gilder. He attended Uniontown schools and was graduated from Uniontown High School in 1908. He was graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1912, and served an 18-month internship at St. Vincent's Hospital, New York City. A physician in Uniontown for mote than 50 years, he had been a member of the Fayette County Medical Society since 1941. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and of the advisory board of the Selective Service in both World Wars. He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church. A son and four grandchildren survive. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mrs. Angela Cole Van Gilder, in 1925, and his second wife, Mrs. Margaret Stafford Van Gilder, in 1962.
