Will of Alexander Leckey, #9, p 221 I Alexander Leckey of the Township of German in the County of Fayette and the State of Pennsylvania, Farmer, considering the uncertainty of this life and being of Sound Mind and Memory and wishing to make distribution of my property whilst in health and strength Do make publish and declare this as my last will Will and Testament in manner and Form following viz. Item 1st Unto my beloved wife Mary Leckey I will and bequeath all my property both Real and personal during her natural life or so long as she remains my widow to be enjoyed by her as she may see proper. After the decease of my Wife (or her Marriage) as above, I direct, authorize and empower my Executors hereinafter named to sell as soon as practicable all my personal property that may be left at that time together with my Farm on which I now reside situate in German Township, County (of Fayette) and State of Pennsylvania adjoining lands of Harvey Grove, John Wilson Esq, Isaac Crow, Jacob Riffle, and others containing One hundred and thirty acres more or less for the best price that can be had and upon such terms and conditions as my executors may think best for the interest of my Estate and out of the Proceeds of such sales pay all my just debts, Funeral expenses, attending the Administration and settlement of my estate and distribute the balance as I have hereinafter directed, viz. 1st Unto my daughter Ann Hostetler, wife of Joseph Hostetler of German Township, I will and bequeath twenty dollars to be paid her out of the proceeds of the sales aforesaid. 2nd Unto my son Alexander Leckey I give and bequeath twenty dollars in addition to what I have already given him to be paid him out of the proceeds of the sales aforesaid. Unto my daughter Mary Leckey I will and bequeath the sum of three hundred dollars to be in full for her service to me. 4th Unto my son William Leckey I will and bequeath the sum of One hundred dollars, this I give him together with what he has already had from me and I have paid for him. 5th Unto my daughter Jane Woodward of Redstone Township, Fayette County, I will and bequeath the sum of twenty dollars. 6th Unto my granddaughter Louisa Leckey, my son William's daughter, I will and bequeath the sum of forty dollars. 7th Unto my daughters Elizabeth Baird, wife of Samuel M Baird, Hannah Hibbs, wife of John Hibbs, both of Redstone Township aforesaid, Martha Leckey and Mary Leckey I will and bequeath the residue and reainder of my estate whatsoever it may be to be equally divided between the four aforesaid daughters, viz Elizabeth, Hannah, Martha, and Mary Share and Share alike. And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my friends Uriah Higginbotham and James Cunningham my executors of this my last Will and Testament to carry out and execute the true meaning and intent thereof. In witness whereof I have herunto Set my hadn and affixed my seal this the 14th day of November AD 1860. Alexander Leckey (seal) Signed and sealed by the above named Alex Leckey in our presence Harvey Grove Reuben Grove Fayette County SS: I George W Litman Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas of Said County do certify that in pursuance of the precept of the Register of Said County delivered in my office on the 8th day of September 1865 a jury trial was ordered at No 12 December Term 1865 and upon the 24th of January 1867 a verdict was rendered Establishing the accompanying paper in writing to be the Will of Alexander Leckey decd and Judgement was entered upon Said verdict on the 2nd day of March 1867. Whereupon a Writ of Error from the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania was sued out by the heirs of the said Alexander Leckey decd as Defendants in said Cause and on the 16th day of January, 1868, the Record was returned from the Supreme Court with remittitur of Prothonotary and Judgement affixed. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seal of the Said Court at Uniontown this 27th day of January 1868.
