I, John Stouffer of Bullskin Township in the county of Fayette in the State of Pennsylvania, yeoman, on this second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty do hereby Constitute make and ordain this Instrument of writing signed by own hand and name to be my last will & Testament revoking all others. Imprinis, I order my hereinafter named Executors to sell and dispose of all my goods and Chattels and personal Estate (except household goods and kitchen furniture) and after all my just debts are paid, out of the same of which there but few and none of any magnitude. I dispose of the residue of my Estate in manner and form following, that is to say to my worthy and beloved wife, Barbara, I give and bequeath all my household Goods and Kitchen furniture (the house clock excepted). I also give and allow her the one of the residue of my Estate in the same manner in every respect as she would be entitled to in case of Intestate. Item to my only son John Stouffer I give and devise the plantation whereon I now dwell containing one hundred & sixty acres & 145 perches & allowance to his heirs and assigns forever which plantation I do appraise to be worth three thousand Dollars & therefore order him to pay there out and therefore the sum of two thousand dollars money of the United States into the hands of my Executors for the use of my three hereafter named daughters to be paid in four equal installments the first installment whereof to commence at the expiration of two years after my said wife Barbara's decease. I also bequeath unto him my Negro- Boy (a 28 year servant) and my said House Clock. The said Negro Boy Ned is nevertheless to be in the service and wait upon his present Mistress my said wife Barbara as long as she shall remain a widow . Item to my three Daughters, to wit, Elizabeth, Mary & Catharine I give and bequeath to each of them the sum of one thousand dollars money of the United States to be paid to them respectively out of my Estate by my herinafter mentioned Executors deducting therefrom such advances as have been made to them respectively of which a just account has been made in my book will appear. Item, all the residue part of my estate not herein disposed of I order and direct to be equally divided and distributed between my four said children hereinbefore named. Item, it is my will and I do order and direct that my said wife Barbara is to have free and undisturbed possession and commodious accomadation both as to rooms and in the Kitchen of my present Mansion house, for and during and as long as she shall live a widow. And lastly I do hereby constitute make ordain and appoint my said son John Stouffer my said wife, Barbara Stouffer and my son-in- law, Jacob Longenecker, the Executors of this my last will and Testament - In witness whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written /s/ John Stouffer (Seal) Signed sealed pronounced and declared by the Testator to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request subscribed ournames as witnesses thereto. /s/ Jacob Longnecker /s/ Jacob Stewart N.B. the words "to pay" the word "my" and the word "son" underlined before signing. Fayette County (Seal) The 27th day of May, Anno Domini 1822 before me the subscriber Register for the probate of wills and granting letters in and for said County personally came James Longenecker and Jacob Stewart the signing witnesses to the foregoing last will and Testament did on their solemn attestations did severally declare that the Testator signed the same in their presence as and for his last will and Testament when of sound mind memory and understanding that they signed the same as witnesses thereto in his presence and in the presence of each other that no influence had been used to sway his inclination or later will made by him to their knowledge or belief--- In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal of Office at Union Town in the County aforesaid the day and year above written. /s/ Alexander McClean Register To Alexander McLean, Esquire: Register for the Probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of Fayette, State of Pennsy. whereas my late husband, John Stouffer died having made his will first dated 2nd july 1820 wherein my self together with my son John Stauffer and son-in-law Jacob Lobingier (sic) are appointed the Executors. Now know that for diverse good causes and consideration we, Barbara Stauffer, widow and relic of the said deceased (sp=====) moving. I have and do hereby release all my right and title in the Executorship of the said Estate and do pray that the same may be entirely commited to the said John Stauffer my son and Jacob Lobenegier (sic) my son-in-law.
