It has always been kept in a SKINNER Bible. Family Record of John Skinner (Junior) In old handwriting on a small piece of paper (7 " x 4 "), folded in quarters, bottom portion is missing. John Skinner was born February the 15th 1765 Sarah Skinner his wife was born April 15th 1766 They were maried June the 4th 1792 Andrew Skinner was born March the 7th 1793 Mary M. Skinner was born August 12th 1794 Lillas Skinner was born April 26th 1796 Ann Skinner was born August 13th 1799 John Skinner was born January the 14th 1801 Sarah Skinner was born Dec 26th 1802 Wm Skinner was born January the 2nd 1809 John Skinner died March 22nd 1819 Sarah Skinner Died M____ (torn here) On reverse Mrs Mary M Nimmon Fannetsburg (Mary Morris Skinner married Adam Nimmon) ~~ Several pieces of blue lined paper [largest is 8 x7] all very rotten and torn, written in pencil: Great Grandfather John Skinner moved to Horse Valley in 1782 from New Jersey His children were John Skinner (my grandfather) His wife was Sarah Wilson 6 near Roxbury a sister of Porter Wilson, father and Mrs Thos. Pomeroy's father. He was a tailer by trade and lived in the house afterward bought By my father and still in use at the tannery Item See in the Ledger of Esq McCune ~~ Another piece about 4x 7 inches ___ you chance to spell ____ look underneath and here it is Alexander Walker Jan 14th Anno Dom 1756 __ Births in Grandfather Saml Walker's family Mary Oct 30th 1779 - married a cousin Robt Walker of Indiana Co John Mar 30th 1781 Alexander Mar 3rd 1783 Eleanor Mar 5th 1785 Margaret Mar 8th 1788 Saml May 5th 1794 __[torn] 179_ ~ ~ Also kept with the above records is the following: Letter from Archer Skinner to his brother John No envelope folded in half and then in thirds with address on one side Pensylvania franklin County Near Strawsburgh to John Skinner Elberton Geo Sept 17th 1812 25 (appears to be cost of mailing) Dear brother I ones more take up my pen to let you know that wee air all well threw the mercy of a kind and good god and I hope theas few lines may find you and all our frinds the same and I have to lement that I so cildom can hear from you as the last letter is of Jun the 30 1811 and least you have not got my anser to that letter I now mention some things in this you say that Anne Loot is wishing a settlement of the Eastete so am I and you say that you have sent me the amount of what you got for the plase at yallow brickis in a former letter and if you have I have not had the fortin to receive it yet and this is the forth time I have rote for the amount of sales of the astate and how you wish to have in settleing of the astate when the law says that estates must be settled in twelve mons and a dsy unless by the consent of the legittees theirfore I wish you to consult with our sister Isable and bring the bisnis to a finel settlement as soon as it can to the advantig of the legittees and so conclude yur anser Elberton Sept 13th 1812 A Skinner (On reverse) NW Crops air very good and times very hard all most no trade hear and I have had a letter from george in Sinnawery last and they was all well then [Note: =Yallow brickis is probably Yellow Breeches. Family records state that George lived "14 miles from Cincinnati" so this may be Archie's spelling of the same. "Anne Loot" is their sister Anne Lott.]
