Cump was b. in Franklin County, March 17, 1854, a son of David S. and Sarah A. Cump. Sarah A. Sweigert Cump was the dau. of Gideon and Elizabeth Swigert. David B. and Sarah Swiegert m. March 28, 1875. David B. and Sarah Sweigert had the following children: Charles Edward Cump Carrie A. Cump m. David Gsell George L. Cump Percy W. Viola B. Sarah Ruth m. William Smith David S. (deceased) Norman J. (deceased) Merle (deceased) Elizabeth L. (deceased) David B Cump was a contractor until he retired in 1916 to Greencastle. Charles E. Cump is a republican and an active member in the Mennonite church. On April 27, 1899 he was m. to Leannah Lesher, the dau. of Philip H. and Catherine (Lesher) Parret, farmers of Chambersburg. To Charles and Leannah were born six children: Catherine M. m. Russel Hause fo Scranton, PA.; Earl L. m. Lorraine King of Chambersburg; Mabel P. m. Damon S. Light of Annville; Verna May (deceased); Charles L. and Dorothy L. at home.
