We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ Synopsized from the "Biographical Annals of Franklin County" Heck Brothers, merchants of Greencastle, Franklin County, PA are successors to Zeigler & Heck Bros., who succeeded George W. & D. Zeigler, of the well known Zeigler family. The firm consists of Fred Z. and George S. Heck, both natives of Waynesboro, Franklin County, PA., where their father was located, in charge of the Lutheran Church. He was the well known and revered. Rev. John Heck, a native of Franklin County, who was reared at Chambersburg. His first charge being at Newville, this State. Later he was transferred to Waynesboro, and there remained twelve years. He then went to Smithburg, Washington County, MD., where he died March 11, 1861. His father was Ludwig Heck. In 1847 Rev. John Heck m. Miss Annie Ziegler, a dau. of Frederick Zeigler, and she was reared near Leitersburg. Her death occured Feb. 28, 1901, when she was eighty years of age. Five children, four of whom lived to maturity. 1. Fred Z. 2. Lewis Luthor, a printer of Greencastle 3. John M., a tailor of Greencastle 4. George S. Fred Z. is a member of the Lutheran Church.
