D. 1863-1924 S. Snively Bishop was born in 1863, in Greencastle, Pa., a son of Rev. J. Phillip and Almira (Snively) Bishop. He studied medicine and was graduated M. D., 1884, from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Bishop began at once the practice of medicine in Greencastle, Pa. In 1887 and 88 he was at Welsh Run caring for the practice of Dr. Henry G. Chritzman while the latter was a member of the Pennsylvania Legislature. He then located in Mercersburg; but several years later returned to Greencastle, where he remained for some years before removing to Carlisle, Pa. Dr. Bishop continued in Carlisle until 1924 when he died. He was a member of the Medical Society from 1886 and was president in 1891. Dr. Bishop for some years prior to his death specialized in eye, ear, nose and throat work. His wife was Miss Nettie Brewer, born 1866, died 1891. They both are interred in Mercersburg Cemetery.
