D. 1868-1918 G. M. Brubaker was born in 1868 on a farm south of Mercersburg and died in Waynesboro in 1918. He was a son of John H. and Nancy E. (Amberson) Brubaker. Dr. Brubaker graduated from the Mercersburg High School and taught for several years in the rural schools, attending Mercersburg Academy during vacation time. He spent one year in Kansas and eighteen months in New Mexico. Returning East he attended the University of Vermont for one year, and then matriculated in 1892 at Baltimore Medical College, graduating M. D. in 1894 form this institution. After graduation he substituted several months for Dr. Devor at Ft. Loudon and assisted for a time Dr. E. A. Hudson in Mercersburg. He was then in practice for short periods at Little Cove and at Webster Mills, Fulton County. In 1896 he located permanently in Mercersburg, where he remained in practice until 1911 when he removed to Roxbury, this county, where he followed the profession until a few months before his death when he was compelled to retire because of illness. He then removed to Waynesboro where he died in 1918. Dr. Brubaker married in 1896, Ida Marie Stoner of Warren Township.
