D. S. G. Coons was born in 1872 in Path Valley, a son of John M. and Mary A. (Doyle) Coons. He was educated in the common and select schools of Path Valley. He entered Jefferson Medical College and was graduated M. D., 1894, from this institution. Dr. Coons located at Concord, this county, in 1894, one year later he removed to Center County, where he remained in active practice until 1916, when he located at Dry Run and since has been continuously in active work in this village and vicinity. He was a member of the Center County Medical Society from 1897 to 1916 and since 1916 has been a member of the Medical Society of Franklin County. Dr. Coons is a Presbyterian by faith, and always active and interested in matters pertaining to the welfare of his native valley. He has been for some years a director of the Path Valley State Bank.
