D. George B. Davis was born October 14, 1881, in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of Caleb Sheldon, and Mary Elizabeth (Blackman) Davis. He attended grammar school in Baltimore County, Md., and then for five years (1898-1903) was a public accountant. In 1903 and 1904 he studied under private tutors and in 1904 entered the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, Md., as a student with Dr. Charles F. Bevan, Dean of College, and was graduated M. D., 1908, with honorable mention, by this institution. Following graduation Dr. Davis spent two years as Interne in Kensington Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., under Dr. Charles P. Noble, and then in 1910 located at Curtiss Bay, Md., where he remained in general practice until 1923. While here he served for several years as local, part time, surgeon for the B. & O. R. R. and in 1923 was visiting physician to the U. S. Ordinance Depot at this place. During the summer of 1918 Dr. Davis served as Chief Resident Physician at the Seaside Children's Hospital, Staten Island, New York City. In the summer of 1923 Dr. Davis had a post graduate course in Diseases of Circulatory and Respiratory Organs. Because of failing health Dr. Davis became a patient for some months in the Maryland State Sanatorium, Sabillasville, Md., and in 1924 moved with his family to Blue Ridge Summit, where he since has been in practice. Dr. Davis is a member of the Medical Society and of the Waynesboro Hospital Staff. He married in 1912, Miss Eliza B. Juliand, R. N., formerly a nurse in Kensington Hospital.
