D. H. B. Etter was born March 13, 1884, near Williamson, Franklin County, Pa., a son of Henry Milton and Columbia (Kline) Etter. He attended the public school at Marion, Pa., until 1898, when he entered the Chambersburg Academy and was graduated with the class of 1902 and in 1902-03 took one year in Electrical Engineering at State College, Pa. Deciding to study medicine, he entered Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City, and was graduated M. D. in 1907 from this institution. Dr. Etter served an internship in Bellevue Hospital and then entered the U. S. Army, graduating in 1910 from the U. S. Army Medical College, Washington, D. C. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the Medical Corps, U. S. Army from 1909 to 1913 and then retired from the Army and located in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, where he since has been in continuous practice of his profession. In 1920 Dr. Etter did post graduate work at the Post Graduate Medical School, New York City, and since has limited his practice to treatment of diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat. Dr. Etter is a Republican and a member of the Lutheran Church. He married in 1914, Helen A. Stough of Shippensburg, Pa.
