FLICKINGER, M. D. 1828-1892 J. S. Flickinger was born near Fannettsburg in 1828, the son of Joseph and Nancy (Statler) Flickinger. He was educated at Marshall College, Mercersburg, Pa., and studied medicine with Dr. J. C. Richards in Chambersburg. After the usual course of study he was graduated M. D. in 1850 from Pennsylvania Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Flickinger practiced medicine at his home two miles north of Fannettsburg from the time of his graduation until 1882, when he retired from active practice. He signed the Call for reorganization of the Medical Society in 1868. Dr. Flickinger married in 1867, Sarah Jane McAllen of Path Valley.
