D. T. H. Gilland was born in 1884 in Greencastle, the only son of Dr. John C. and Martha M. (Snyder) Gilland. He was educated at Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., graduating Ph. B. in 1907. He then read medicine with his father and after the usual course was graduated M. D. in 1911 from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. After serving an Internship in Jefferson Surgical Hospital, Roanoke, Va., Dr. Gilland located in 1913 in Greencastle where he has been since in active practice. In 1918 he enlisted in the Medical Service, U. S. N. A., and was discharged December, 1918. Dr. Gilland served as 1st Lieutenant in Medical Officers Training Camp, Chickamauga Park, Ga. Dr. Gilland has been a member of the Medical Society since 1917. Dr. Gilland married October 17, 1917, Daisy B. Dailey. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church.
