B., M. D. John K. Gordon was born August 6, 1877, in Fannetteburg, Pa., the son of Rev. J. Smith and Margaret Beatty (Kyle) Gordon. The former was one of the leading ministers of the Presbyterian denomination in Franklin County and was for more than forty-six years (1859-1904) the pastor of Lower Path Valley Presbyterian Church. Dr. John K. Gordon received his early education in the common schools and at Mercersburg Academy. He then entered Princeton University and was graduated A. B. in 1899 from this institution. Deciding to become a physician he attended the usual course lectures at the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated M. D. with the class of 1904. After graduation he served as resident physician in the Germantown and the Bryn Mawr Hospital. Dr. Gordon began the practice of medicine in Chambersburg and has continued in active practice here to the present. He has been a member of the Medical Society since 1908, and was President in 1918. He is a member of the Staff of the Chambersburg Hospital and during the World War served on the Chambersburg Draft Board and was for some years Physician to the County Home. He is a trustee of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, a Republican in politics and at this time is President of the Chambersburg School Board. He married in 1909 Eleanor Wharton Wood of Philadelphia who died in 1919. Married second in 1926 Alice Hibberd Childs. Dr. Gordon is the father of two sons by his first marriage.
