WILLIAM A. HUNTER 1822-1889 William A. Hunter was born in 1822 in Upper Strasburg, the oldest son of Dr. John Hunter. He studied medicine with his father and attended one course of lectures in 1846 at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Hunter began the practice of medicine at Orrstown, where he remained for about two years. He then practiced at Jacksonville, Cumberland County, for a year or two before locating at Upper Strasburg in 1847, where he remained in active work until the time of his death in 1889, a period of more than forty years. Dr. Hunter was a charter member of the Medical Society in 1869 and was President in 1872.
