D. 1826-1857 Henry Jacobs was born in 1826 near Waynesboro, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Krider) Jacobs. He received his education at Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg, Pa., graduating in 1847 and then taught in the public schools of Waynesboro for two years, 1847-1848. He began the study of medicine with Dr. Gilbert at Gettysburg and was graduated M. D. in 1851 from the Pennsylvania Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Jacobs located at Waynesboro and practiced his profession here until failing health prevented active work. He spent several winters in Florida and died in 1857 from pulmonary disease. Dr. Jacobs married in 1852 Margaret A. Bittinger of Georgetown, D. C.
