D. L. M. Kauffman was born in 1869 at Kauffman, the son of Dr. George R. and Martha E. (Kiesecker) Kauffman. He was educated at the Chambersburg Academy and at Gettysburg College. He studied medicine with his father and after the usual course of lectures was graduated M. D. in 1893 from Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City. Dr. Kauffman began the practice of medicine with his father and succeeded to the practice at the latter's death, and has been in continuous practice at Kauffman to the present time. He was admitted into the Medical Society in 1895 and was President in 1904. He is a member of the Chambersburg Hospital Staff and a Trustee of Gettysburg College. Dr. Kauffman married Nellie Geiger of Shippensburg, Pa. He is a Republican in politics and a member of the Greencastle Lutheran Church. Dr. Kauffman lives on the old homestead in a commodious colonial stone dwelling erected by the Fullertons prior to the time of the Revolutionary War.
