KIEFFER, M. D. 1822-1887 Stephen B. Kieffer was born near Mercersburg, a son of Stephen and Mary Magdaline (Kieffer) Kieffer. He received a classical education at Marshall College, graduating in 1848, and then entered the office of Dr. Parker W. Little, Mercersburg, Pa., and began the study of medicine. He attended lectures at and was graduated M. D. in 1851 from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kieffer located at once in Carlisle, Pa., where he was in active successful practice until the time of his death in 1887. Dr. Kieffer in his day was one of the most prominent physicians in Carlisle. His wife's family name was Keller.
