KING, M. D. 1826(?)-1869 John S. King was born about 1826, a son of Robert King (1792-1856) and his wife Jane Skiles, who were married in 1824. Robert King was a brother of Rev. Dr. King. Their father was George King, born in 1758 in Lancaster County, died 1840 in Franklin County. Dr. King practiced medicine in Mercersburg from about 1850 to 1869 when he died. He was a signer of the Call for organization of the Society in 1868. Dr. King served as Assistant Surgeon in the Second Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. This regiment was organized April 21, 1861, at Harrisburg, Pa.
