D. 1857-1927 Rebecca P. Laughlin was born in 1857 near Greencastle. She received her education at the State Normal School at Shippensburg. After the usual course of study she was graduated M. D. in 1897 from the Women's Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and then served one year in a dispensary in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Laughlin began the practice of medicine in Waynesboro in 1899 and after several years practice she became physician to a private patient for two years. Returning to Waynesboro, she resumed the general practice of medicine and so continued until 1917, when she removed to Philadelphia and retired from active work. She was an energetic physician and often was both nurse and doctor and she retained an extensive practice. Dr. Laughlin was a member of the Medical Society since 1905. Dr. Laughlin died in Philadelphia, January 26, 1927
