D. 1852 - 1922 Dr. Lessig was born in Bedford, Bedford County, Pa., and was a son of John L. and Margaret Ann (McFadden) Lessig. He graduated from the schools of Bedford and then read medicine with Dr. William Watson of the same town. In 1878 he received his degree M. D. from the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa., and this same year began the practice of medicine in Chambersburg, remaining in practice here until 1894, when he removed to Newville, Cumberland County, Pa. After three years practice in Newville he located, 1897, in Bedford County, first at Shellsburg and in 1900 removing to Rainsburg, where he remained until his death on January 5, 1922. In 1880 Dr. Lessig married Miss Ida Hutton Rhoades of Chambersburg. Dr. Lessig was never a member of the Medical Society.
