PETER WASHINGTON LITTLE 1784-1848 Peter Washington Little, son of Casper and Susanna Little, was born in Adams County, Pa., February 13, 1784. His early years were spent in Hagerstown, Md. He studied medicine with Dr. Benjamin Rush in Philadelphia. After his marriage he settled in Mercersburg where he practiced medicine for many years. He was postmaster at Mercersburg, 1822-1827, a Trustee of Marshall College and Secretary of the Board, 1836-38. Dr. Little married on September 26, 1808, Mary Smith Parker, daughter of Captain Robert and Mary (Smith) Parker. She was born April 5, 1788, died August 26, 1848. Dr. Little died July 1, 1848, in Mercersburg, Pa. They were the parents of two sons and five daughters.
