LUDWIG, M. D. 1856 - 1902 George W. Ludwig was born 1856 in Chambersburg, the oldest son of John S. and Sophia Ludwig. Dr. Ludwig was for some years the leading jeweler in Chambersburg. He then decided to study medicine and entered the University of Maryland, graduating from this institution M. D., 1898, and registered in Franklin County in 1900. His practice was limited to diseases of the eye and especially to the fitting of spectacles in connection with the jewelry business. He continued in the work until the time of his death in 1902. Dr. Ludwig married, 1882, Emma J. Brengle of Cumberland, Md. He was never a member of the Medical Society.
