M., M. D. R. H. McCutcheon was born March 15, 1891, at Franklin, Virginia, a son of Rev. J. L. and Lenore (Philips) McCutcheon. He received his preliminary education at the Morgantown, W. Va., High School and at Wake Forest, N. C., College, taking his A. B. in 1911 and his A. M. in 1912. He then studied medicine and was graduated M. D. in 1915 from the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. After spending one year in private practice at Newport News, Virginia, Dr. McCutcheon in March, 1917, entered the U. S. Army Medical Corps with the rank of First Lieutenant and remained in this service until July, 1919. At the time of his discharge in 1919 he held the rank of Captain in the U. S. Army Medical Corps. During October, 1919, he was appointed to a position in the U. S. Veterans Bureau and served in this capacity until October, 1921, when he received the appointment as Medical Director of the Pennsylvania State Sanatorium for Tuberculosis at Mont Alto, Pa., which position he has filled continuously to the present time. Dr. McCutcheon is a member of the Medical Society of Franklin County and is now (1928) President of the Society. He also holds membership in the National Tuberculosis Association. He is a Republican in politics and by faith a Baptist. September 7, 1917, he married Vida Muriel Perkins.
