D. 1841-1890 (?) D. L. McDonald was born in 1841 in Juniata County, the son of James S. and Mary Ann (Enslow) McDonald. He served fourteen months enlistment in the Civil War and taught school for several terms before beginning, in 1864, the study of medicine with Dr. S. B. Crawford at McCoysville, Juniata County. He attended one course of lectures in New York City in 1865 and then practiced medicine from 1866 to 1870 at McCoysville with his preceptor. In 1871 he located at Concord and was in practice there for sixteen years. During this time, in 1881, he attended lectures and was graduated M. D. from Columbus Medical College, Columbus, Ohio. Dr. McDonald located in Greencastle in 1885 and practiced medicine at this place until the time of his death about 1890 (?). He married in 1871, Anna M. Robinson of Concord.
