MERKLEIN, M.D. 1848 – 1890 Dr. Merklein was born in Chambersburg, Pa., the son of George H. and Margaret A. (Nave) Merklein. He graduated in pharmacy in 1868 and in medicine, M. D., in 1869, from the University of Pennsylvania. He began at once the practice of medicine in Chambersburg and continued here for about fifteen years, then removed to Philadelphia, where he was in practice until his death. He was Corresponding Secretary of the Medical Society in 1880, and for a time was in partnership with Dr. J. L. Suesserott in the manufacture of vaccine virus in Chambersburg.
