D. 1811-1871 Charles Michaels was born in 1811 at Hanover, York County, Pa., the youngest son of John and Catherine (Beltz) Michaels. The father was born in Germany in 1766 at Frankfort on the Maine and came to America a young man, settling in York County and died there in 1814. The mother was born in 1769 in Baltimore and died in 1829. Both were members of the German Reformed Church. Dr. Michaels received a common school education and became a student with Dr. James Henry Miller, Baltimore, Professor of Medicine in Washington Medical College, and he received his degree M. D. from this school in 1832. Dr. Michaels located at once in Greencastle and followed the profession here until his death on February 14, 1871. Dr. Michaels married Sidney M. Wilhelm, born 1814, died 1902.
