D. Dr. Miley was born in 1864 at Hagerstown, Md., a son of Reuben T. and Ellen J. (Cunningham) Miley. He received his education in the common and select schools and then began the study of medicine with Dr. Geo. S. Hull in Chambersburg and attended lectures at the Medico Chirurgical College, Philadelphia, Pa., graduating M. D. in 1893 from this institution. He located at once to Chambersburg, practicing in partnership with his preceptor until 189-, and since then has been in individual practice continuously in Chambersburg. Dr. Miley was admitted to the Medical Society in 1906 and was President in 1923 and is a member of the Chambersburg Hospital Staff. Dr. Miley served in the Spanish American War as Acting Assistant Surgeon, with the rank of First Lieutenant from August, 1898. He was appointed a member of the Chambersburg Board of Health in 1895 and served as a member of the Board for 18 years. In religion Dr. Miley is a Presbyterian having been a member of Central Presbyterian Church for a number of years. In 1895 Dr. Miley married A. Orpah Schaff, of Chambersburg.
