FLETCHER NOWELL, M. D. 1845-1927 J. F. Nowell was born in Maryland in 1845, a son of William and Rachel A. (Sheckell) Nowell. He was educated at Ft. Edward Institute, N. Y., and then taught for several years in Dickinson Seminary, Williamsport, Pa. After this he began the study of medicine and was graduated M. D. in 1875 from Hahnneman Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Nowell at once located in Greencastle, Pa., and for fifty years was in continuous practice in this town. Dr. Nowell, some years ago, was for a time a member of the Medical Society. In 1880 he married Jennie Cook of Chambersburg, Pa. Dr. Nowell died December 25, 1927, in Greencastle.
